Nosework is an exciting sport great for all dogs. Our classes focus on confidence, independence and odor obedience.

Your dog learns to seek out and show you where a particular scent is hidden. You can train your dog to find any scent you like, but we generally start with a combination of Wintergreen, Pine and Thyme.  This combination prepares you for local competitions.

A scented cotton swab might be hidden in the sand, in a wall, on a vehicle, or maybe just in a box.   Your dog’s nose is much better at tracking scents than ours are.

Group Classes

Lisa Affi teaches our group nosework classes. She shares her life with her husband and 3 wonderful Boston Terriers Fenway, Willow and Twig. Lisa and her dogs have trained in nosework, disc, agility, and tricks.  When Lisa got her youngest dog Twig, someone had suggested to start scent detection. Lisa started the journey and realized where her passion lies. Since then Lisa enjoys taking online classes through Stacy Barnett and Fenzi, and takes weekly classes in Courtenay under Heather and Doug Wilson of K911 dog sport detection. In scent detection Lisa and Twig have earned their SDDA Master Championship and Elite titles! Lisa is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner.

Christina offers an online foundations course ideal for new dogs and for dogs who lack drive or confidence:

Excellent trainer …. very knowledgeable in dog behaviour and I love her approach to dealing with reactive dogs. Love  her easy relaxed style of teaching …. she makes it easy for even us beginners to ‘get it’. Highly recommended.

Christina helped me with a reactive foster and I was so grateful for the methods and education she provided. She gave me the tools to be able to help this dog learn how to appropriately greet new dogs, and she did it with positive training methods NOT harmful or painful methods. Thank you Christina!
